Welcome to Payne Comics TCG!

Collect your favorite heroes, villains, locations and moments from across the Payne Comics Universe

In the Payne Comics Trading Card Game your goal is simple: reduce the character cards in your opponent’s deck, and hand, to zero.

To do this, you’ll use a combination of the Character, Power and Location cards in your own deck to defeat your opponent’s line up of cards and fight your way to victory.

First let’s look at the stage on which this battle will take place:

setting up

To begin, both players shuffle their decks, place the Deck face down to your right, and draw six cards from the top. Any cards that are discarded during gameplay stack face down on your left. This becomes your Graveyard. Both players roll a die, the player with the highest roll goes first.

Choose four Character cards from your hand and line them face up in front of you. This becomes your Active Line. If you don’t have four character cards in your hand, just place as many as you have available for now.

Each round the Character cards in your Active Line do battle with the Characters in your opponent's Active Line.

The category of each battle changes every round, going in the following order: Intelligence, Strength, Power, Skill. Then starting over in the same order again.

After setting up your side of the table should look like this:

Now for the fun part. Let's talk about what you do on your turn!

yOUR TURN

At the start of your turn, draw one card from the top of your deck. Next, place down any cards you wish to play, such as Power or Location cards. After playing any new cards take the Character Card in your Active Line that corresponds to the current round’s category and slide it forward. This puts your card in the Attack position. Find the stat on your card that corresponds to the current round’s category. Now compare it to the same stat on your opponent’s attacking card. The card with the higher stat number wins this battle.

Now, let’s take a more in-depth look at the categories your cards do battle in, and what they mean.

First round is Intelligence. So, the player slides the card from the Intelligence slot forward.

CHARACTER CARDS

Character cards are the primary card type in the Payne Comics TCG. They will make up the majority of your deck. Using each character’s unique abilities and bolstering their stats using Power and Location cards, will carve your path to victory.

All Character Cards belong to both an Alignment and a Series. These two categories help determine what Power and Location cards the Character gains boosts from. As well as helping you craft a deck of cards that synergizes well together.

Alignments:

All Character Cards fall into one of three alignments: Hero, Anti-Hero, or Villain.

Series:

All Character Cards are marked with a symbol that indicates the Payne Comics series they originate from.

Description:

Character Card’s feature a brief description of the character, and their role in the Payne Comics universe.

Abilities:

Most (but not all) Character cards feature unique abilities at the bottom of the card. These abilities can turn the tides of a game. Use them strategically to get ahead of your opponent.

To activate an ability you must do so at the beginning of your turn, unless the ability specifically says otherwise. Read the ability aloud to your opponent and follow its instructions.

Gallery Number:

The number in the bottom right of each card displays which number the card is in the Payne Comics TCG game. This does not affect gameplay.

LOCATION CARDS

Location Cards can be played at the beginning of your turn and change the location of the battlefield. Once played a Location Card stays in place until it’s removed by a Character Ability, by a Power Card, or replaced by another Location Card.

To play a Location Card simply lay it down horizontally in the center of the table at the beginning of your turn. Roll your die and sit it on the Location Card’s blank die slot.

On either side of the die, you’ll find two symbols, representing the card’s Alignment and Series.

Any Character Card in play that fits both the Alignment and Series criteria shown, gains a stat boost for the current round decided by the die on the card. This stat boost persists until the Location Card is removed from play.

Be warned, as long as the Character fits both the Alignment and Series criteria on the Location card they gain this boost. This goes for your Opponent’s cards as well.

POWER CARDS

The final card type is Power Cards.

Simple, straight forward cards that can be played at the beginning of your turn to shake up the proceedings.

To play them, read their instructions out loud to your opponent, carry out the instructions, and then discard them into your graveyard.

You may play one Power Card per turn.

WINNING

Once your opponent is completely out of playable Character cards you win!

Good luck and have fun!
